Bespoke Pine Staircase

Bespoke Pine Staircase

This converted loft in a late 19th century mid-terrace is an excellent example of the possibilities of even the smallest roof spaces. Even with the limited height, the new space creates a cosy bedroom area and makes optimal use out of a previously wasted storage space.

As part of the loft-conversion, we also relocated the door to the 1st floor bathroom to allow for a larger rear bedroom. A new landing area was created by partitioning the large front bedroom instead. This also became the landing area for the new staircase.

The most prominent feature, the bespoke staircase, was built from scratch on-site. The staircase features a notched stringer layout with pine balustrade & spindles. The skirting from the loft conversion continues all the way down the stairs in lieu of the stringer. The under-stairs storage space is used as a large walk-in wardrobe for the front bedroom.
